Los Merengues attacker Vinicius Jr has said sorry to fans for his reaction when substituted in Sunday's heated match against Barcelona triumph.

The Brazilian was replaced in the 72nd min and expressed his disappointment by going straight off the pitch.

He subsequently came back to the sidelines and, following his team's 2-1 win, tried to confront the opposition's youngster Yamal during unpleasant final whistle exchanges.

"Today I want to say sorry to all the supporters for my behavior when I was taken off in the Clasico," he wrote on X.

"Just as I have previously expressed during today's training, I would like to say sorry once more to my teammates, the team, and the leadership.

"At times fervor takes over me because I constantly desire to succeed and support my club. My competitive character stems from the passion I feel for this team and all it represents."

He joined Real from Brazil in recent years for a significant fee and has notched triple figures in more than 300 games.

But his prospects in the Spanish capital is far from certain with rumors in recent months indicating that Real would contemplate permitting the player depart if they obtained a suitable offer.

When he was substituted on Sunday, TV coverage from network the platform recorded him remarking: "Again me! I'm exiting the club! It's wiser if I go, I'm leaving."
