New England Equal Best Victory Run From Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie Henderson has tallied five scores during the current campaign
New England matched their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Quarterback Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory increases the Patriots advantage at the summit of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York bottom after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had gone in front at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields scoring a short rushing score to conclude the New York's opening drive
But the home team fought back in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He desires to be great."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the win
