The Woman in Cabin 10

Presence
Soderbergh pushes his creative boundaries with this nifty supernatural story captured wholly from the viewpoint of a ghost. As a family including mother Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe occupies their fresh home, the filming device – AKA the Presence – follows them around. The teen shows signs of aware of the supernatural presence, and it seems guarding her. Yet what is the reason? The premise is enjoyable that avoids overstaying, including a revelation that could catch you off guard. October 11th, afternoon and evening times, Sky Cinema Premiere
Nicolas Cage's Meta Comedy
Cage embraces his unique fame via this self-referential adventure. He acts as an egotistical film star called Nicolas Cage who takes on a million-dollar gig to appear at a birthday party on the Spanish island for the rich Javi, played by Pedro Pascal. Hired by the intelligence agency to gather intel on the suspected cartel boss, Cage's “nouveau shamanic acting ability” proves useful. Saturday 11 October, evening, on Channel 4
The Black Phone
The director's contained scarefest remains effective without requiring a continuation. Taking place in 1978 Denver, multiple kidnappings has made the local kids anxious. When Finney is kidnapped by “the Grabber” and imprisoned in a cellar, he dreads a fatal end. However, the old telephone mounted nearby continues to ring, with spooky callers giving advice, and the intuitive nightmares of Gwen, his sister could save him. A genuinely scary movie. This Saturday, nighttime, on Film4
This Dramatic Portrait
In the conflict between spirituality and money, the victory is clear for materialism in Showalter's wonderfully garish film adaptation of the disgraced televangelist and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield plays the greedy Jim, who proclaims early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye begin profiting from the nation's religious faith. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, however the lead actress succeeds to depict the character with compassion. October 14th, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
