Chopper Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Groves at Popular California Coast
A helicopter flying above a well-attended California shoreline suddenly began spiraling wildly, ultimately descending rapidly and crashing into a line of palm groves as spectators looked on.
Footage uploaded on social media depict the chopper starting to spin near Huntington Beach then descending near the edge of the shore, where it becomes wedged between palm groves and a staircase close to the coastal road.
Rescue Operation Update
The Huntington Beach fire department said five individuals were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the chopper and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the incident on Saturday.
Three individuals on the road were hurt. Specifics on their wounds were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was not immediately released.
